Spanish talmudist and kabbalist. He was born in Spain, and studied in Safed, Fez and Cairo, where he became chief rabbi. He later returned to Spain and served as a dayyan. He composed responsa, a commentary on Maimonides' Mishneh Torah, kabbalistic works and talmudic novellae.
